The winning line

Candy Rush runs on one compounding trick: a Multiplier Underlay drops into a random position, then doubles x2 → x128 with each consecutive tumble. It is guaranteed on every bonus spin, while Super Free Spins spreads it across the entire 7×7. Check that you have the 96.58% build, set the bet so your wallet can handle the 1-in-432 trigger wait, let the friendly 35% hit rate cover the toll, and bank the first round that reaches +500x.

Step 1 — Read which of three builds the casino runs

One game, three configs: 96.58 / 95.57 / 94.53. Offshore AU-facing casinos can serve up the floor build without so much as a warning. The title is only a month old and no public per-casino audit exists, so the info panel has the final say.

Action: Open the i-panel before spin one, locate the RTP line, and keep the bet at the A$0.40 bottom until the number is confirmed.

Watch for: Promo pages advertising 96.58%. That is the default’s number, not a guarantee of what your table is running.

Decision branches:

  • If 96.58% → full plan at full bankroll.
  • If 95.57% / 94.53% → the house skims an extra A$1-2 per A$100 on every spin; move casinos or cut the session bankroll by a quarter before committing.
  • If the panel hides the figure → treat as floor build.

Step 2 — Bet to cover 432 spins; the base game is the toll booth

The trigger lands around 1-in-432, which leaves the bankroll with one real job: survive the wait. A ~35% hit rate keeps tossing out small clusters and can feel fairly generous. It is not. That is the toll ticking over, not the tank filling back up.

Action: Set the bet so the stash can cover 432+ spins: roughly A$0.40-0.50 with A$200, or about A$1 with A$500. Keep it flat for the entire grind.

Watch for: An underlay dropping in halfway through a base-game tumble and stepping x2 → x4 → x8. Take the win, sure, but do not resize around it. The placement is dice, not weather.

Decision branches:

  • If the bankroll clears 432 spins → hold flat; no bet-up on generous stretches, no bet-down on cold ones.
  • If it covers under 250 → under-funded for the wait; shrink the bet until it clears, or pick a different night.

Step 3 — Stalk the scatters; the full-grid underlay is the round that matters

Landing three to seven scatters awards 10-30 free spins, with an underlay guaranteed on every spin. Then there is the random Super Free Spins upgrade, which stretches that underlay over the full 7×7. That geometry drives the entire top end: every tumble in the chain doubles a multiplier that can now reach every cluster on the board.

Action: Grind towards the trigger at the calibrated stake. Across a 400-500-spin session, the chance of seeing a bonus runs roughly even. Once the round begins, there is nothing to steer. Just count the doublings.

Watch for: The size of the underlay zone when the round starts. A full grid signals Super, and by construction it is the better version.

Decision branches:

  • If a bonus pays under ~50x → log it and keep grinding inside the session budget; one weak round changes nothing.
  • If a round prints +500x or better → the win condition; bank it and close rather than funding a second hunt.
  • If scatters land at five-plus → more spins and a higher ceiling on the same engine.

Step 4 — Treat the buy menu as a blind premium, budgeted or ignored

The 100x / 300x / 750x tiers have no published buy-RTP, so the precise premium cannot be known. That makes any buy a budget call, never a recovery play. The build matters too: buying on the 94.53% floor means taking the worse edge before the blind premium is even added.

Action: Before buying, ring-fence 5x the buy cost so one cold press cannot finish the night. Only buy after confirming the 96.58% build.

Watch for: Deposit-bonus conditions. Most offshore AU-facing operators block Feature Buy while wagering remains active.

Decision branches:

  • If 96.58% confirmed AND 5x-cost is ring-fenced → one planned Super Free Spins buy is a defensible route to guaranteed underlay action.
  • If the build is the floor, OR the buy is chasing a dry stretch → skip; that is a blind premium paid on tilt.
  • If a bought round lands cold → the budget said this could happen; no follow-up press.

The maths that backs the playbook

On the preferred build, the edge is 3.42 cents per dollar. On the floor it is 5.47, a 60% bigger bite on identical reels, which is exactly why the panel check comes first. Structurally, the return is locked behind the bonus: the 35% hit rate makes the base feel friendly, but the serious multiplier maths only appears where the underlay is guaranteed, meaning base-only sessions realise far below the headline (derived from the feature structure; Pragmatic publishes no base/bonus split). The doubling rule gives the engine its whole identity. Getting from x2 to x128 requires seven consecutive tumble wins, so long chains during a full-grid round are what create those +500x exits, while the 15,000x cap at 1-in-43.8M remains a certificate rather than a target. Medium σ (~6-9) takes some sting out of the ride, yet the 1-in-432 gate still controls the bankroll. Dry spells of 600-800 spins are routine variance at that rate, and the 432-spin coverage floor is built specifically around surviving them.

What breaks the playbook

  1. Playing the underlay like Sugar Rush’s locked positions. This one is random placement — there is nothing to build, and “warm spots” are fiction with a bet attached.
  2. Quitting on a friendly base. The 35% hit rate is the toll booth’s smile; the return lives behind the 1-in-432 gate.
  3. Buying to win back a cold run. No published buy-RTP means the premium is blind, and tilt makes it blind and expensive.
  4. Chasing the 15,000x. A 1-in-43.8M certificate is a lottery line; sessions built around it end early and badly.
  5. Skipping the build check. The floor config quietly costs 60% more per spin — the one mistake unique to this title and the cheapest to avoid.

The cut-off

Floor abort: Seeing 94.53% on the panel, with no better casino reachable, either cuts the session bankroll to a quarter-size night or ends it there.

Coverage line: Once the bankroll falls below enough to cover the remaining wait, roughly half gone without a bonus, the session closes. The trigger does not run to a schedule.

Round bank: Any free-spins round reaching +500x closes the tab immediately.

Buy budget: The ring-fenced 5x-cost fund is the complete buy allowance. A cold press uses it up. It never gets extended.

Game rules

Base game

Candy Rush has no paylines. Symbols pay by cluster instead: land five or more of the same candy connected horizontally or vertically anywhere on the 7×7 grid and that is a win, no matter where it lands. Each win triggers a tumble. The winning candies clear, fresh ones drop in, and one paid spin can string together several hits.

  • 5 or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically form a winning cluster.
  • Winning symbols are removed; the symbols above tumble down and new ones drop in from the top.
  • Tumbles continue until no new cluster forms.
  • Larger clusters pay more, and a cluster can span the whole grid.

Multiplier Underlay

This is the main mechanic, and it is the bit that separates Candy Rush from its Sugar Rush cousins. A multiplier zone lights up beneath a random patch of the grid, anywhere from 2×2 up to the full 7×7, and any winning cluster sitting on that zone gets multiplied. Random is the key word here. Unlike Sugar Rush, where multipliers build at fixed spots, Candy Rush gives you no position to camp on.

  • In the base game the underlay appears at random beneath an area of the grid, sized 2×2 up to 7×7.
  • The underlay starts at x2 and doubles on each consecutive tumble win: x2 → x4 → x8 and onwards.
  • The underlay multiplier caps at x128.
  • Only clusters that land on the underlay zone are multiplied.

Free Spins

Free spins carry most of the maths, because the underlay is no longer left to chance. Land the rainbow BONUS scatters and the round opens. From there, a multiplier zone is guaranteed on every spin instead of turning up at random.

  • 3 to 7 BONUS scatters trigger the round, awarding 10 to 30 free spins; more scatters means more spins.
  • A Multiplier Underlay is guaranteed on every free spin.
  • The underlay multiplier still doubles per tumble up to the x128 cap.

Super Free Spins

This is the top mode and the reason the cut sits where it does: the full-grid underlay means every winning cluster is multiplied on every spin. It can land naturally or be bought from the Feature Buy menu.

  • The guaranteed Multiplier Underlay spans the full 7×7 grid on every spin.
  • The multiplier doubling and x128 cap carry over the same as standard free spins.

Ante Bet

Ante Bet is Pragmatic’s standard “pay more, trigger sooner” switch. It lifts the stake so the BONUS scatters land more often, cutting the wait to a bonus without changing the certified RTP tier the operator is running.

  • Optional stake increase that raises free-spins trigger frequency.
  • Does not change the certified RTP tier.

Bonus buy

The Feature Buy menu lets a punter skip the grind and pay straight into a feature, rather than sitting through the ~1-in-432 organic trigger. Bonus buys are available through AU-facing offshore casinos but blocked in the UK, the Netherlands, parts of Germany, Ontario and Belgium.

  • Feature Buy / Super Spin menu exposes Free Spins, Super Free Spins and Super Spin entries.
  • Cost tiers referenced in sources sit around 100× / 300× / 750× stake.
  • Per-mode buy RTP is not published by Pragmatic Play.

Max-win cap

  • 15,000× total bet.
  • All features, base game, free spins and Super Free Spins, share the same 15,000× ceiling.
  • The top-end is deep long-tail stuff: max win is reported at roughly 1 in 43.8 million spins.

RTP versions

Pragmatic ships this pokie in three certified RTP tiers. Operators pick which one they integrate, and most punters never check which version their casino is actually running.

TierStatusAU-facing casinosOther operators (abstracted)
96.58%Default / preferred config(not yet confirmed per tier)several Pragmatic-integrated operators
95.57%Operator-selectable reduced tier(not yet confirmed per tier)operator choice, not publicly listed
94.53%Operator-selectable lowest tier(not yet confirmed per tier)operator choice, not publicly listed

Candy Rush only launched on 28 May 2026, so no per-casino RTP audits are published yet, and no source names which operator runs which tier. The straight-up AU angle is simple: some AU-facing offshore operators may quietly serve the 94.53% floor, so bankroll planning should assume the lower tier until a casino’s RTP info screen confirms 96.58%.

Game series

Candy Rush sits in Pragmatic’s cluster-and-tumble family alongside the Sugar Rush and Sweet Bonanza lines. The family resemblance is real, but the underlay mechanic is its own thing.

FAQ

Q: What’s the RTP on Candy Rush?
A: The default is 96.58%, but Pragmatic also ships 95.57% and 94.53% tiers that operators can pick quietly. Straight up, assume the lower cut until your casino’s RTP screen proves otherwise.

Q: Does the Multiplier Underlay work like Sugar Rush?
A: Not really. Sugar Rush builds multipliers at fixed spots you can target, while Candy Rush drops the underlay on a random patch each spin. There is no safe square to camp on.

Q: Can you buy the bonus in Candy Rush?
A: Yes. The Feature Buy menu sells Free Spins and Super Free Spins at tiers around 100× to 750× stake. The buy is available on AU-facing offshore casinos but blocked across the UK, NL and a few others.

Q: How often does the free-spins bonus hit?
A: Roughly 1 in 432 spins on the organic trigger, so dry stretches are part of the grind. Most of the return sits in free spins, so cutting a long base-game grind early can drag down the effective RTP.

Q: Does Ante Bet change the RTP?
A: Short answer: no. Ante Bet bumps the stake so the BONUS scatters land more often and the wait gets shorter, but the certified tier (96.58% / 95.57% / 94.53%) the operator’s running stays put.
