| RTP | Five certified figures, all printed on one screen at rules page 5 of 8: 96.44% normal play, 96.50% with Ante Bet, 96.52% with Super Spin, 96.52% on Buy Free Spins, 96.47% on Buy Super Free Spins. Total spread across every way of playing: 0.08 of a percentage point. Three operator builds also ship, 96.44 / 95.52 / 94.46 |
| Volatility | High, on Pragmatic’s own badge wording, with all five lightning bolts filled at 5 of 5. No σ published, no PAR sheet, no community sample of any size. Derived estimate for normal play sits around 11 to 15 per A$1 staked, with wide error bars, because the parameter σ is most sensitive to is the multiplier weighting and that is unpublished |
| Max win | 10,000× bet in normal play, 2,000× with Ante Bet active, 1,000× with Super Spin active. All three re-render on rules pages 3 of 8 and 7 of 8 as the mode changes. In cash the ceiling never moves: 200,000 base-bet units in every mode, which is A$2,400,000 at the top coin value. Cap odds 1 in 10,989,010 spins per SlotCatalog, about 1.25 years of continuous play at 1,000 spins an hour |
| Hit frequency | 23.64%, one win every 4.23 spins per SlotCatalog, printed independently as 1 in 4.23 by BigWinBoard. Natural free-spins trigger about 1 in 250 spins in normal play, roughly 1 in 25 with Ante Bet |
| Bet range | Three different ceilings. A$0.20 to A$240.00 normal play, A$1.00 to A$1,200.00 with Ante Bet, A$2.00 to A$2,400.00 with Super Spin. Rules page 5 of 8 prints a MAXIMUM BET line of A$2,400.00 in all three modes, which is true in only one of them |
| The engine | 5×3 grid, 243 fixed ways, left to right from the leftmost reel. No tumbles, no cascades, no respins, no collection meter. Plain wild carries no multiplier. One Expanded Wild maximum per base spin, printed as reels 2 to 5, drawn with a random multiplier from the nine powers of two 2× to 512×. Note our own Super Spin capture put it on reel 1 as well. Three scatters open free spins, where the Expanded Wild starts on reel 5 and walks one reel left per spin, resetting to reel 5 on any scatter, with a multiplier that starts at nothing and doubles only on spins it helped win. The winning line
Every dollar of Wild Skullz’s return hangs off the roaming Expanded Wild in free spins. All five bet modes carry the same edge, so there is bugger all to optimise there. Look, entry cost is the lever that matters: the 100× buy at 2,000 base bet units is the cheapest door with the most headroom. Bank any round clearing 100× total bet.
Every number in this pokie is priced in base bet, not in your spin
Rules page 5 of 8 has one line that flips the whole game on its head: “All wins are multiplied by base bet.” Not total bet. Base bet. Read that bit twice.
Call the unit B, with B being the BET figure times the COIN VALUE. From there the bet menu applies its multiplier. It even spells it out in the header, showing “BET MULTIPLIER 20x” in normal play before switching to 100x or 200x when the special bets are active. So a spin costs 20 B in normal play. The other two cost 100 B or 200 B. At the A$0.01 floor, that works out to A$0.20 for normal play, while the specials cost A$1.00 or A$2.00.
The paytable does not budge. Honestly, the flaming guitar five-of-a-kind pays 125 B in every mode, and it was captured returning the exact same A$1,500.00 on an ante spin costing A$1,200 as it did on a Super Spin costing A$2,400. Same cash. Different invoice. Here is what that does to the board:
| Best hits on screen | Pays | Normal, 20 B spin | Ante, 100 B spin | Super Spin, 200 B spin |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flaming guitar, five of a kind | 125 B | 6.25× bet | 1.25× bet | 0.625× bet |
| Skull kick-drum, five of a kind | 100 B | 5.00× bet | 1.00× bet | 0.50× bet |
| K or Q, five of a kind | 20 B | 1.00× bet | 0.20× bet | 0.10× bet |
| Printed win cap | 200,000 B | 10,000× | 2,000× | 1,000× |
Read the bottom-right cell twice. In Super Spin, the best single five-of-a-kind the reels can throw back returns 62.5 cents in the dollar. That means even a screen packed with premiums is a losing spin, and the base symbols simply cannot cover the stake. So essentially the entire 96.52% of Super Spin has to come through the multiplier slapped onto the guaranteed Expanded Wild. The reels are window dressing around a multiplier punt.
Same unit explains the cap column. 10,000 × 20 B, 2,000 × 100 B and 1,000 × 200 B are all 200,000 B: same ceiling, different denominator. Paying five or ten times more per spin does not add a cent to the most this pokie can ever pay, it only shrinks the headroom counted in multiples of your own stake. Every external review found on this title prints a flat “10,000×” with no qualifier, and that figure belongs to normal play alone. The same recalculation is documented on Kingdom of Atlantis Jackpot Play and Gameshow Party Jackpot Play, so it is a house pattern rather than a one-off.
Five certified returns, eight basis points apart
Pragmatic priced every route at the same return and stuck all five figures on one help screen. Fair play, that is unusually honest. Strategically, though, it leaves you nowhere to go because the RTP column gives you no reason to press one mode over another.
| Mode | Spin price | Certified RTP | House cut per staked dollar | Free spins reachable | Printed cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal play | 20 B | 96.44% | 3.56c | Yes, about 1 in 250 | 10,000× |
| Ante Bet | 100 B | 96.50% | 3.50c | Yes, about 1 in 25 | 2,000× |
| Super Spin | 200 B | 96.52% | 3.48c | No, blocked outright | 1,000× |
| Buy Free Spins | 2,000 B | 96.52% | 3.48c | Bought | 10,000× |
| Buy Super Free Spins | 12,000 B | 96.47% | 3.53c | Bought, wild starts 32× | 10,000× |
Eight basis points from top to bottom. On a A$100 turnover, the entire five-way spread is worth eight cents. Nothing you pick here changes the edge. What does change is the shape of the ride: how quickly the stash gets cooked and how often the feature turns up, plus the amount of ceiling left above what you paid to get in.
The number worth caring about sits somewhere else. The three operator builds are 96.44 / 95.52 / 94.46, which makes the spread 1.98 points. That is about 25 times the entire five-mode spread. Look, picking the right build is worth roughly 25 mode decisions, and checking it takes one glance at page 5 of 8. Most punters never bother.
The price list for one free-spins round, and what the price buys
The feature is where the cash has to come from. Super Spin makes that plain because, once you strip away the multiplier, the base symbols cannot even return the stake. So price the door properly, both in base bet units and in normal spins of turnover:
| Route in | Cost per entry | Same cost as | Headroom to the 200,000 B cap | Certified RTP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buy Free Spins, 100× total bet | 2,000 B | 100 normal spins | 100× the ticket | 96.52% |
| Ante Bet hunt, 1 in ~25 at 100 B | ≈2,500 B | 125 normal spins | ≈80× | 96.50% |
| Natural hunt, 1 in ~250 at 20 B | ≈5,000 B | 250 normal spins | ≈40× | 96.44% |
| Buy Super Free Spins, 600× total bet | 12,000 B | 600 normal spins | ≈16.7× | 96.47% |
| Super Spin | Impossible, feature blocked | n/a | n/a | 96.52% |
The cheapest button has the best ceiling sitting above it, and it shares the highest certified return. The dearest button gets smashed on every measure. Frankly, you are paying six times the price for 0.05 points less certified RTP, with only one sixth of the headroom left. That is arithmetic off one help screen. Not opinion.
Now, the ticket buys you a walk, not a set spin count. The Expanded Wild starts on reel 5, then shuffles one reel left after each spin. Once it reaches reel 1 with no scatter showing, that is the round done. Scatters only land on reel 5 during the feature, and hitting one boots the wild straight back to reel 5 for another trip across. Five spins is the bare minimum. There is no fixed number, no matter what some review reckons.
The multiplier is where the size comes from. It starts with nothing, then jumps to 2× only after the wild helps make a win. Keep winning with it and the thing doubles again: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512. Dry spins do bugger all to it. A straight five spin walk where the wild wins every time gets to 32× and dies there because the walk is finished. So, honestly, 512× needs scatters on reel 5. This pokie gets its top end from retriggers, not some lucky draw.
That does not suddenly make the 600× button good value. What 12,000 B buys is the 32× that a clean 2,000 B round could have reached anyway, except you get it from spin one. That leaves four more doublings available before 512× inside the same clean walk. Sure, it is the only route to the top rung without a retrigger, but you are paying six standard rounds for it. The size still needs a reality check too. One 125 B five of a kind at 512× returns 64,000 B, which is under a third of the 200,000 B cap. Cap money needs several paying ways landing at the top rung, not one monster line.
Four calls, and none of them happen after the reels start
Every proper decision is made before this feature starts. Once you are in, there is no pick screen or gamble. There is no press or bank call either, and nothing to hold or chuck away. The walk just keeps moving, wins push the multiplier up, then the round shuts itself. That is why there are four steps here, not five. A fifth would be made up for symmetry. The only call left during the round is whether to close the tab, and that belongs in the cut off numbers.
Step 1 — Set the base bet off page 5 of 8, before any button multiplies it
Look, the bet menu makes a simple choice look busier than it is. You get three fields: BET, COIN VALUE and TOTAL BET. A multiplier header sits above them. Lock B first and every price on the pokie becomes obvious, including the two buttons you have not touched yet.
Action: Open the “i” panel and go to page 5 of 8. Set B so 200 B, the Super Spin price, is still an amount you are prepared to torch on one spin. If it is not, accept that the button is out. At the A$0.01 floor, normal play costs A$0.20 and ante costs A$1.00. Super Spin is A$2.00, while the standard buy is A$20.00 and the super buy costs A$120.00. To be fair, that is where a A$100 stash stretches furthest.
Watch for: Check three things, but do not skim them as one neat list. First, page 5 of 8 should show 96.44%, not 95.52% or 94.46%. Then look at the MAXIMUM BET line: it prints A$2,400.00 in all three modes, even though that number only holds with Super Spin live. Finally, with both toggles off, the side panel should still read “SPECIAL BETS / 2 OPTIONS”.
Decision branches: If page 5 of 8 reads 96.44%, the top build is live and the cut is 3.56 cents in the dollar. Fine. The rest of the playbook applies. If it reads 95.52% or 94.46%, the game has already shaved 0.92 or 1.98 points off before the reels even move. That is 25 times the entire mode spread. Play Hellvis Wild or another Pragmatic Play that title at that brand, or find a lobby running the top build. If a deposit bonus has a max bet near A$5, normal play stays legal up to B of A$0.25. Ante Bet breaks the limit at B of A$0.06, while Super Spin is basically over the line straight away, so both toggles stay off for the whole punt. If the stash is under A$100, B stays at A$0.01. Mind you, Step 4 needs 10,000 B for the buy series, and nothing else here funds itself as cleanly.
Step 2 — Ante Bet buys trigger rate at 100 B a spin, and nothing else
Rules page 4 of 8 spells it out: bet multiplier 100x, with “the chance to hit the FREE SPINS feature is ten times higher”. The panel calls it “HIGHER CHANCE TO WIN FEATURE” and prices it at A$10.00 against a A$2.00 normal spin. Ten times the frequency for five times the stake is a real discount on chasing the feature. That is what you are buying, full stop.
Action: If you take the ante lane, keep it at the A$1.00 minimum and use the same 10,000 B you would have spent grinding. That buys 100 ante spins. You would expect about four rounds from that, versus about two from 500 normal spins for the same money. Frankly, there is no reason to lift B just to make the lane feel more serious.
Watch for: Look, the side panel flips to “ANTE BET / ACTIVE”. Pages 3 and 7 of 8 also redraw the printed cap from 10,000× to 2,000×. The paytable itself does not move: the guitar still pays 125 B, but now that is 1.25× the spin instead of 6.25×.
Decision branches: If the target is bonus rounds per dollar and that brand has no buy button, ante goes on at the minimum. 2,500 B per entry beats grinding at 5,000 B. If the buy button is live, ante comes off because 2,000 B per entry is cheaper than 2,500 B, with better headroom and two more basis points. Honestly, if 100 ante spins go by with no scatter trio, that is a 1.7% outcome at 1 in 25. Read the RTP screen again before blaming variance, then close at the same stake. Bonus funds on the account change it again: ante stays off entirely, because 100 B a spin clears a A$5 cap by B of A$0.06 and a A$10 cap by B of A$0.11.
Step 3 — Super Spin costs 200 B and deletes the feature you came for
The same rules page gives Super Spin two sentences. The second is the one punters skip: “The FREE SPINS feature cannot be triggered when playing with SUPER SPIN active.” A capture with the button live confirms it. So you are paying ten times the normal spin price for a guaranteed Expanded Wild every spin while the pokie shuts off its entire top end.
Action: Treat it as a short, deliberate multiplier punt or do not touch it. Cap the run at 50 spins, which is 10,000 B. Price the press before starting: 200 B a spin carries an expected loss of 6.96 B, about 9.78 times the normal play burn rate. At B of A$0.01, that means A$2.00 each spin and A$100 for the 50. Well, that is plenty of money for a very narrow draw.
Watch for: Watch the multiplier printed on the wild. That is the only part capable of returning the stake, with nine values running from 2× to 512×. The cap reads 1,000×. Mind you, page 3 of 8 still shows the free spins text while the button is live, but that is just a static help screen, not a feature you can actually trigger.
Decision branches: If the goal is the 512× ladder or any round at all, Super Spin does not get pressed. The feature is blocked, and that ladder exists only inside it. If the whole budget is 50 multiplier draws, then it is 200 B a spin and you stop at 50, no matter what the last draw did. A 2× or 4× multiplier on a full board of premiums can still look decent: 125 B at 4× is 500 B against a 200 B spin, so 2.5× the stake is what a good Super Spin looks like, not 6.25×. Bonus funds make the call easier. The button stays off because A$2.00 is the cheapest Super Spin that exists, and the next few coin steps clear a A$5 cap.
Step 4 — Buy the 2,000 B round, walk past the 12,000 B one
Rules page 4 of 8 spells out both prices: “Pay 100x current total bet to trigger the FREE SPINS feature. Pay 600x total bet to trigger the SUPER FREE SPINS feature.” At a A$2.00 base bet, the panel shows A$200.00 and A$1,200.00. At the floor, it drops to A$20.00 and A$120.00. To be fair, one of those is the best value in the game. The other is the worst.
Action: Run no more than five standard tickets from a 10,000 B stash. At the floor, that is A$100 spent on five A$20.00 rounds, with B held flat through the lot. The repay mark is simple: 100× total bet means the round paid for its ticket, against a certified average of 96.5× total bet. Any round clearing that line gets banked. Then close the tab.
Watch for: Check the price on the confirm panel before pressing it. Our own capture settles it: with a special bet on, the panel says ante and Super Spin are disabled during feature buys, and the price holds at 100× the base bet rather than the inflated total. Then watch scatters landing on reel 5 mid round, because each one resets the wild to reel 5 while keeping the multiplier. Really, the other thing that matters is whether the wild actually joined a win. That is what advances the ladder, not the spin itself.
Decision branches: Five tickets without one clearing 100× means the run is done. It is not a reason to buy a sixth. If the confirm panel ever shows more than 100× the base bet you set, stop and read it again, because the captured behaviour is that special bets switch themselves off for the buy. If a round retriggers twice with the wild already past 64×, the ladder is doing what only retriggers can make it do, and that round is already worth more than the ticket. Frankly, the 600× button does not become clever just because 32× sounds six times better. It certifies 96.47% against the standard buy’s 96.52%, costs six tickets and leaves 16.7× of headroom instead of 100×.
The maths behind a flat edge and a 9.78× burn
Start with the certified numbers. Rules page 5 of 8 gives all five RTP figures DIRECT across three bet modes: 96.44 normal and 96.50 ante. Super Spin is 96.52, buy is also 96.52, while super buy sits at 96.47. The house cut works out to 3.56, 3.50, 3.48, 3.48 and 3.53 cents per staked dollar.
Spin prices are DIRECT off the bet menu at 20 B, 100 B and 200 B. Cross checked three ways against the captures: BET 3 × A$0.05 × 20 = A$3.00; BET 10 × A$1.20 × 20 = A$240.00. Then BET 10 × A$1.20 × 200 = A$2,400.00. Expected loss per press is DERIVED by straight multiplication: 0.712 B normal, 3.50 B ante and 6.96 B Super Spin. So ante burns4.92× the normal rate and Super Spin 9.78× for six and eight basis points of edge. Honestly, the price per dollar wagered barely moves. What does move is the turnover, with four to ten times more dollars shoved through per hour.
Entry costs are DERIVED from the trigger frequencies, SlotCatalog backed up by BigWinBoard, multiplied by the spin prices: 250 × 20 B = 5,000 B natural and 25 × 100 B = 2,500 B on ante. The two buttons are fixed at 2,000 B and 12,000 B. Headroom is simply the 200,000 B cap divided by each cost: 40×, 80×, 100× and 16.7×. None of this needs a distribution model. That is exactly why it is the bit worth trusting.
Then come the gaps, and they are real. No σ is published for this title, no PAR sheet has leaked. There is no community sample worth naming either, because it shipped in March 2026 and nobody has tracked it properly. So σ around 11 to 15 per A$1 staked in normal play is ESTIMATED from the spec, with wide error bars, using RTP 96.44%, a 23.64% hit rate, a 1 in 250 trigger and a 1 in 10,989,010 cap. The touchiest input is the weighting across the nine multiplier values. Pragmatic gives no weighting at all, so you will not find an average multiplier or a typical draw quoted anywhere on this page.
At σ of 13, 500 spins at A$0.20 land roughly ±A$58 around an expected loss of A$3.56 at one standard deviation. At A$2.00, that becomes ±A$581 around an A$35.60 loss. The funny bit, mind you, comes from the game structure rather than the σ estimate: both special betsreduce relative variance. Ante chops the cap to a fifth in multiples while making the trigger ten times more frequent. Super Spin cuts the cap to a tenth and removes the feature lottery completely. So you get two compressed distributions sold at 4.92 and 9.78 times the burn rate. The smoother ride costs more. Pretty much the opposite of how these special bets are usually sold.
One last DERIVED number for the base game. A K five-of-a-kind pays 20 B, which exactly matches the 20 B spin, so it is a push. That means a fair chunk of the 23.64% hit rate is rebate, not income. What changes the picture on this pokie is whether an Expanded Wild was sitting in the line.
Where the five modes catch punters out
- Trusting the two printed figures that only hold in normal play. The splash promises “WIN UP TO 10,000 X BET” and page 5 of 8 prints a A$2,400.00 maximum bet in all three modes. Switch Ante on and the cap re-renders at 2,000×, Super Spin at 1,000×, while normal play tops out at A$240.00 a spin. The money cap never moved off 200,000 B, so all that changed is the headroom above the stake.
- Treating Super Spin as the premium version, and pricing its wins off total bet. It is the one mode where free spins cannot happen, and every paytable figure is denominated in base bet, so the best five-of-a-kind on the board returns 0.625× the spin. A full screen of premiums can be a losing spin, and punters reading the cash column will misjudge a good board by a factor of ten.
- Buying the 600× round because 32× sounds like six times better. 96.47% against 96.52%, six tickets against one, 16.7× headroom against 100×. It buys the ceiling of a clean standard round up front, plus the one road to 512× no other route offers, at six times the money.
- Waiting for the multiplier to climb on dry free spins. The ladder advances only after a spin the wild took part in a win on, so a quiet walk from reel 5 to reel 1 can end on nothing at all.
- Closing a round that looks nearly over. One scatter on reel 5 sends the wild back from wherever it stands, multiplier intact. A round sitting on reel 1 is one scatter from starting over.
- Playing whichever build the lobby served. 96.44 / 95.52 / 94.46 is a 1.98-point spread, about A$2 more lost per A$100 wagered on the worst of them, and roughly 25 times what all five modes together are worth.
The numbers that end a Wild Skullz session
Base-bet ceiling, set first: B gets set so 200 B is a number you are actually prepared to burn on one press. Otherwise, look, Super Spin is simply off the menu for that session. At the A$0.01 floor the ladder is A$0.20 / A$1.00 / A$2.00 / A$20.00 / A$120.00.
Turnover budget, one lane only: 10,000 B, no reloads. That buys 500 normal spins, or 100 ante spins. You could instead take 50 Super Spins or five standard tickets. It still does not cover a single super buy, because that wants 12,000 B by itself.
Repay line by lane: A natural round has to clear 250× total bet before it has even paid back the grind that found it. On ante, the line is 2,500 B. A bought round needs 100× total bet, while a super-bought round needs 600× total bet. Once the round clears the number for its own lane, the session is done. No hanging around.
Dry stretch on the walk: 500 normal spins with no scatter trio is about a 13% outcome at 1 in 250, roughly one session in eight at that length. To be fair, that is not some freak event. It ends the session at the same stake, and it is no excuse to start hammering Super Spin, because Super Spin cannot land the feature that has gone missing.
Ticket cap: five standard buys, then pull up. Honestly, if all five brick under the repay line, that is the result. It is not a reason to fire a sixth.
Super Spin clock: 50 presses at 200 B. That is the full allowance, full stop, if the button gets touched at all.
Bonus-funds gate, and it bites harder here than on most pokies: Look, AU-facing operators commonly cap bets while bonus money is active. Ricky Casino historically sat at A$5, while Joe Fortune was reported at A$10. Plenty also ban bonus buys with bonus funds outright. Two of the five play options jack the spin cost before coin value even moves: 5× for Ante Bet and 10× for Super Spin. That means Ante Bet busts an A$5 cap at B of A$0.06, while Super Spin gets there only a step or two above its own floor. Break a max-bet term and the winnings can be voided, not merely that spin. Stake is the only AU-facing book confirmed with this title; the others are unverified. No reviewed terms spell out whether the 100× buy is treated as one bet against the cap either, so get that answer in writing before you press it.
If the five-mode load is the problem rather than the point: Hellvis Wild runs the same 243 ways across a 5×3 grid. No bet-mode decisions to make at all, Crank It Up to be fair, it matches the 10,000× cap and keeps the A$0.20 to A$240.00 range, all on 20 fixed lines, Guitar Quest puts the choice inside the bonus instead of before the spin, Day of Dead trades the ceiling down to 4,500×, and Dr. Rock & the Riff Reactor 2 doubles the ceiling to 20,000×, but the tail is much thinner: 1 in 35,000,000 versus 1 in 11,000,000 here. Wild Skullz is the only one of the five that actually gives you decisions to make. Every one of those choices is priced off base bet.

- Pays are denominated in the bet unit, not in the total bet. Rules page 5 of 8 reads “All wins are multiplied by base bet. All values are expressed as actual wins in coins.” The bet unit is BET multiplied by COIN VALUE, and the total bet is that unit multiplied by 20, 100 or 200 depending on the mode.
- Confirmed at two denominations: the guitar’s five of a kind paid A$1,500 at a bet unit of A$12 in both the Ante Bet capture, where the total bet was A$1,200, and the Super Spin capture, where it was A$2,400. Identical cash, different spin cost.
- SCATTER, a flaming skull over crossed guitars. Three of them trigger the free spins round. It carries no cash pay of its own.
- WILD, a flaming WILD plaque. Substitutes for everything except SCATTER and carries no multiplier.
- EXPANDED WILD, five full-reel portraits of the band members: two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and a keyboardist, all masked or corpse-painted. Each covers a whole reel, counts as a single symbol on that reel, and substitutes for everything except SCATTER.
- Premiums are band instruments and all four are skull-branded. A, K, Q, J and 10 are wrapped in chains.
Game rules
Base game
Five reels. Three rows. You get 243 fixed ways, meaning one symbol from each reel has to connect left to right across adjacent reels. Nothing tumbles, mind you. The spin lands, pays what it pays, and that is it. Nearly all the serious upside comes from one symbol: the Expanded Wild.
- 243 fixed ways, 3 to the power of 5. Highest win only per way, and wins on separate ways are added together.
- One Expanded Wild at most per spin. The rules restrict it to reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in the base game. With Super Spin active our own capture repeatedly landed it on reel 1 as well, paying from that reel, so the printed reel range does not appear to cover that mode.
- The base-game Expanded Wild arrives with a random multiplier drawn from nine values: 2×, 4×, 8×, 16×, 32×, 64×, 128×, 256× or 512×. It applies to every winning way the wild takes part in.
- The multiplier is a single draw per spin. It does not accumulate within a spin or carry across spins.
- The plain WILD substitutes for everything except SCATTER and adds no multiplier of any kind.
- Free spins wins are added to the way win, and the free spins total is paid after the round completes.
- No tumbles, no cascades, no respins, no symbol collection, no hold and win.
- The weighting of the nine multiplier values is not published, so no average and no distribution can be quoted for it.
Free spins
Free spins work like a walk rather than handing you a fixed spin count. The Expanded Wild begins on reel 5, then shifts one reel left after every spin until it falls off the grid and ends the round. Land a scatter on reel 5, though, and it gets kicked straight back to the start.
- Three SCATTER symbols trigger the round.
- The Expanded Wild lands on reel 5 on the first free spin, then moves to reels 4, 3, 2 and 1 on the spins that follow.
- During the feature the SCATTER can only land on reel 5. Any scatter moves the wild back to reel 5 from wherever it is and restarts the walk.
- The round ends when the wild reaches reel 1 and no scatter is present on reel 5. With no retriggers that is a five-spin round. There is no fixed spin count anywhere in the rules.
- The wild arrives with no multiplier at all. It becomes 2× after a spin in which it took part in at least one win, then doubles on each later winning spin: 2×, 4×, 8×, 16×, 32×, 64×, 128×, 256×, 512×.
- The ramp is gated on winning spins, not on spins. A free spin where the wild wins nothing does not advance it.
- Special reels are in play during the feature, and the producer does not publish the feature reel strips.
Special Bets
Look, the SELECT A SPECIAL BET panel controls both the cost of the spin and what that spin can actually do. Normal play runs at a 20× bet multiplier. Ante Bet costs 100×, while Super Spin costs 200×. Pick one before you spin. The two special bets cannot be active together.
- Bet multipliers: 20× normal play, 100× Ante Bet, 200× Super Spin. Total bet is the bet unit multiplied by that figure.
- At the panel’s A$2.00 normal-play stake, Ante Bet costs A$10 a spin and Super Spin A$20, so 5× and 10× the normal spin.
- Maximum bet moves with the mode: A$240 in normal play, A$1,200 with Ante Bet, A$2,400 with Super Spin.
- The side panel reads either ANTE BET ACTIVE or SUPER SPIN ACTIVE, and reverts to SPECIAL BETS, 2 OPTIONS when neither is on.
- Certified RTP by mode, each read on rules page 5 of 8 in that mode: 96.44% normal, 96.50% Ante Bet, 96.52% Super Spin.
- The max-win clause re-renders with the mode as well: 10,000×, 2,000×, 1,000×.
Ante Bet
Ante Bet is basically the frequency knob. Pay five times the stake and the scatter wait drops by roughly ten times. The certified return only shifts by six hundredths of a percentage point, mind you.
- Bet multiplier 100×, five times the normal spin cost. Panel sub-label: HIGHER CHANCE TO WIN FEATURE.
- The chance of triggering the free spins is ten times higher, so roughly 1 in 25 spins against 1 in 250.
- RTP 96.50%, against 96.44% in normal play.
- The max-win clause re-renders at 2,000× total bet.
- Bet range A$1 to A$1,200.
- Expected loss runs at 3.50 bet units a spin against 0.712 in normal play, a burn rate about 4.9 times faster.
Super Spin
Super Spin is the odd one because it actually removes a feature. Ten times the price guarantees an Expanded Wild on every single spin, but free spins are switched off completely. That trade is really the whole point of the mode.
- Bet multiplier 200×, ten times the normal spin cost. Panel sub-label: EACH SPIN HAS AN EXPANDED WILD.
- At least one Expanded Wild is guaranteed to hit on every spin.
- The free spins feature cannot be triggered while Super Spin is active, confirmed in the rules read with Super Spin actually on.
- The rules screen still renders its FREE SPINS page while Super Spin is active, because that screen is static. It is not a sign the round is reachable.
- RTP 96.52%, the joint highest of the five certified figures.
- The max-win clause re-renders at 1,000× total bet, and the bet range runs A$2 to A$2,400.
- Expected loss runs at 6.96 bet units a spin, about 9.8 times the normal-play rate.
Bonus buy
There are two buys in the BUY FEATURE panel. The real difference is where the multiplier ladder begins. The standard buy starts the wild at nothing, same as a natural trigger. The super buy skips all that and starts at 32×.
- FREE SPINS: 100× total bet, sub-labelled STANDARD FREE SPINS. At the panel’s A$2.00 stake that is A$200. RTP 96.52%.
- SUPER FREE SPINS: 600× total bet, sub-labelled on the panel as expanded wilds starting with a 32× multiplier. At the panel’s A$2.00 stake that is A$1,200. RTP 96.47%, the second lowest of the five certified figures.
- In SUPER FREE SPINS the Expanded Wild starts at a 32× multiplier, leaving four doublings to the 512× ceiling.
- Cost per entry into the feature, in bet units: about 5,000 hunting naturally in normal play, about 2,500 hunting with Ante Bet, 2,000 for the standard buy, 12,000 for the super buy.
- Settled by capture: with either special bet switched on, the buy panel prints “ALL ANTE AND SUPER SPINS ARE DISABLED DURING FEATURE BUYS” and the two prices stay at A$200.00 and A$1,200.00 against a A$2.00 base bet. The buy is priced off the base bet, so an active Ante Bet or Super Spin does not inflates the price is unknown either way. The figure printed on the panel is the only reliable one.
- The title is reported live in 71 countries and has not been seen in German-licensed casinos, so whether the buy panel appears at all is set by the casino’s market.
Max-win cap
The cap appears twice in the rules. One version applies to a free spins round on rules page 3 of 8, while another covers any round on page 7 of 8. Both lines change when you switch on a special bet. The cash amount, of course, does not.
- 10,000× total bet in normal play, 2,000× with Ante Bet, 1,000× with Super Spin. Both clauses carry the active mode’s figure.
- Behaviour at the ceiling, verbatim: “the round immediately ends, win is awarded up to the cap and all remaining features are forfeited”. In the free-spins wording, all remaining free spins are forfeited.
- In bet units the ceiling is 200,000 in all three modes. At the top coin value, where the bet unit is A$12, that is A$2,400,000 in every mode.
- The splash screen advertises a win of up to 10,000× bet. That is the normal-play figure and it is what the marketing carries.
Five ways to stake it, one edge
Five ways into the pokie. Five certified RTP figures. And frankly, the full gap from highest to lowest is only 0.08 of a percentage point.
| Mode | Bet multiplier | Cost at an A$2.00 normal-play stake | Certified RTP | Max win in multiples of the stake |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal play | 20× | A$2 a spin | 96.44% | 10,000× |
| Ante Bet | 100× | A$10 a spin | 96.50% | 2,000× |
| Super Spin | 200× | A$20 a spin | 96.52% | 1,000× |
| Buy Free Spins | 100× total bet | A$200 an entry | 96.52% | Cap of the mode the buy is taken in |
| Buy Super Free Spins | 600× total bet | A$1,200 an entry | 96.47% | Cap of the mode the buy is taken in |
- The five figures run 96.44%, 96.50%, 96.52%, 96.52% and 96.47%. Nothing in that list is a better bet per dollar staked than anything else in it.
- What the modes change is shape and clock speed. Measured on expected loss a spin, Ante Bet burns about 4.9 times faster than normal play and Super Spin about 9.8 times faster.
- The money ceiling is flat at 200,000 bet units in all three spin modes. Paying five or ten times more a spin does not lift the top prize by a cent, it only shrinks the cap when the cap is written as a multiple of the stake. Same ceiling, bigger denominator.
- Ante Bet and Super Spin are mutually exclusive, and Super Spin removes the free spins entirely, so only three of the five routes can reach the feature: a natural trigger in normal play, a natural trigger with Ante Bet, and a buy.
- The 600× super buy costs six standard buys and carries five hundredths of a point less certified RTP than the standard buy does.
The paytable is priced in the bet unit, not the total bet
This is the structural bit that changes how you read every other number in the game. A screen can be packed with premium symbols and still lose. That is not some weird edge case either.
| Normal play | Ante Bet | Super Spin | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spin cost | 20 bet units | 100 bet units | 200 bet units |
| Guitar five of a kind, 125 bet units | 6.25× the stake | 1.25× the stake | 0.625× the stake |
| K or Q five of a kind, 20 bet units | 1× the stake | 0.20× the stake | 0.10× the stake |
| Max win in multiples | 10,000× | 2,000× | 1,000× |
| Money cap in bet units | 200,000 | 200,000 | 200,000 |
- Symbol pays are fixed in bet units, so they do not grow when a special bet raises the spin cost. The guitar’s five of a kind is 125 bet units in every mode.
- In Super Spin the best five of a kind on the board returns 0.625× the spin cost. A full-screen match on the top-paying symbol is still a losing spin.
- That leaves the guaranteed wild’s multiplier draw carrying nearly the whole of Super Spin’s 96.52%, because no base symbol combination can return the stake on its own.
- The panel’s BASE BET field prints the normal-play stake, not the unit the paytable uses. At a BASE BET of A$2.00 the bet unit is A$0.10, because normal play multiplies it by 20.
- Both readings, one taken at a bet unit of A$0.10 and one at A$12, reduce to the same bet-unit values, which is what confirms the denomination.
512× is a retrigger game, not a luck game
The multiplier tops out at 512× in the base game and 512× again in free spins. Same ceiling, completely different road there, mind you.
- In the base game the multiplier is a single random draw from the nine powers of two, so 512× can land on any spin with no build-up at all.
- In free spins the wild arrives at nothing and doubles only after a spin in which it won: 2×, 4×, 8×, 16×, 32×, 64×, 128×, 256×, 512×.
- A clean five-spin round with no retriggers tops out at 32×, and only if the wild wins on all five of its spins. 512× cannot be reached without scatters landing on reel 5.
- Each scatter resets the wild to reel 5 and restarts the walk while the multiplier already built is kept, so the round has no printed upper length.
- The 600× super buy starts the ladder at exactly the 32× that a perfect no-retrigger round could reach, which leaves four doublings to the ceiling.
- The nine multiplier weights are unpublished, so the odds of drawing any single value are not stated anywhere.
RTP versions
Three certified builds are available. The game shows the exact one the casino bought on rules page 5 of 8, alongside all five mode figures, so there is no need to guess.
| Build | Status | AU-facing casinos | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 96.44% | Top build, and the one our own AUD demo ran | Stake carries the title, its build unverified | Prints 96.44 / 96.50 / 96.52 / 96.52 / 96.47 on one screen |
| 95.52% | Mid build | None confirmed | Documented by four aggregator databases |
| 94.46% | Bottom build | None confirmed | Same four databases |
- Top to bottom the spread is about 2 percentage points, which is roughly A$2 more of the cut for every A$100 staked on the worst build.
- The five mode figures are a separate axis from the operator build. Whether the two lower builds keep the same internal 0.08-point spread is not documented anywhere.
- The bottom build is 94.46%. Four independent databases agree on that figure, and the one affiliate listing that disagrees is a single low-weight source, so its number is not carried here.
- No source publishes casino names per build, so no tier list can be given for this title.
Volatility distribution
Honestly, the producer still rates it High even with every bolt filled. Chuck on a special bet and the relative variance actually comes down.
- Badge on rules page 5 of 8: five lightning bolts, all five filled. Caption verbatim: “High volatility games pay out less often on average but the chance to hit big wins in a short time span is higher.”
- The label word is High, not Very High, which several external reviews apply to the same 5 of 5 meter.
- Hit frequency 23.64%, about 1 in 4.23 spins, with two independent databases printing the same figure. Free spins about 1 in 250 in normal play. Top prize about 1 in 10,989,010 spins.
- No standard deviation figure has been published for this title, no par sheet has surfaced and no tracked sample exists, so none is offered here.
- Ante Bet truncates the top end to 2,000× while delivering the feature about ten times as often, and Super Spin truncates it to 1,000× while replacing the feature lottery with a guaranteed wild. Both compress the distribution and both speed up the spend.
- A dry stretch in normal play is a run of unmultiplied way wins at a hit rate near one spin in four, which is a different session shape from a bonus drought on a low hit-rate game.
AU availability and the max-bet clash
This pokie makes the standard AU maximum stake rule sting harder while a bonus is running. Two of the five play options jack up the spin cost before the coin value even moves.
- Pragmatic Play holds no Australian online-casino licence. Under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 the offence of providing online casino games to residents sits with the operator, not the player, so AU access runs through offshore-licensed casinos.
- Confirmed carrying the title at an AU-facing operator: Stake. Its RTP build is unverified. Ricky Casino, Joe Fortune, BC.Game and Casinonic carry this producer broadly, but none of them was confirmed on this specific title.
- AU-facing offshore casinos commonly cap the stake per spin while bonus funds are in play, usually in the A$5 to A$10 band. Ricky Casino has historically run an A$5 cap and Joe Fortune an A$10 cap, both worth checking against the current terms page rather than taken as read.
- Super Spin at a 200× bet multiplier breaches an A$5 cap at almost any coin value, and Ante Bet at 100× breaches it at a modest one. Pressing either while a welcome bonus is live can void the bonus with no deliberate high-rolling involved.
- Bonus buys are commonly barred with bonus funds at the same casinos, and the two buys here cost 100× and 600× the total bet.
- The free demo gateway resolved with AUD pricing and no AU block. The title is reported live in 71 countries, strongest in Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Finland, and has not been seen in German-licensed casinos.
Rock and skull slots on this site
Four of the five closest titles run the same theme. Mind you, none asks the punter to make this many decisions.
| Title | Max win | Where it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Hellvis Wild | 5,000× | Same producer, and the nearest twin on theme and layout: rock, undead, 243 ways, 5×3. One bet mode, no buy, half the ceiling |
| Crank It Up | 10,000× | Play’n GO. Same cap and the same A$0.20 to A$240 range, but 20 fixed lines, accumulating multiplier wilds and no mode selector |
| Dr. Rock & the Riff Reactor 2 | 20,000× | TrueLab. Double the ceiling on cascading wins with a Multimeter, and a thinner tail at about 1 in 35,000,000 |
| Guitar Quest | 10,000× | Relax Gaming. 5×4 and 1,024 ways, with the choice sitting inside the bonus rather than before the spin |
| Day of Dead | 4,500× | Same producer. Mexican folk art, 5×4, walking wilds, less than half the cap |
- Wild Skullz is a gig, not a Day of the Dead scene. No marigolds, no sugar-skull ornament, no folk palette: the setting is a lit stage with truss rigging, five overhead spotlights, a monitor wedge and a crowd silhouette along the bottom edge.
- The skulls are band branding rather than horror dressing. Skull microphone, skull face on the kick drum, flaming skull scatter, skulls at all four corners of the reel frame, skull crest in the logo.
- On layout this is the same 5×3 and 243 fixed ways as the nearest twin, so the separation between the two is entirely the bet-mode panel and the buys, neither of which exists there.
Where the published figures go wrong
Most of the stuff written about this title online tells the normal play story and leaves it there. The qualifier usually goes missing.
- Every external review found states a flat 10,000× max win. That figure holds in normal play only. With Ante Bet on it re-renders at 2,000×, with Super Spin at 1,000×.
- Rules page 5 of 8 prints a maximum bet of A$2,400 identically in all three modes. In normal play the real ceiling is A$240, and A$2,400 is only reachable through Super Spin’s 200× multiplier. One aggregator states it correctly as A$0.20 to A$240 a spin, up to A$2,400 with Special Bets.
- The vsways prefix in the game code suggests a variable-ways or Megaways engine. This game has 243 fixed ways and the count never changes.
- The game code itself, vswayscyclop, matches nothing in the title. Eight title-derived guesses were probed and every one returned the producer’s error stub.
- Reviews describing the volatility as very high are applying their own scale. The in-game badge says High at 5 of 5 bolts filled.
- Any source quoting a fixed free-spin count is wrong. The round is a five-step walk with scatter resets and no printed length.
FAQ
Q: Can Super Spin trigger the free spins? A: Straight up, no. Super Spin kills the round completely. For ten times the normal stake, all you get is a guaranteed Expanded Wild on every spin.
Q: Is the max win really 10,000× total bet? A: In normal play, yes. Ante Bet cuts the displayed cap to 2,000×, while Super Spin drops it again to 1,000×. The cash behind all three is the same, of course. Only the denominator changes.
Q: What is the real maximum bet? A: A$240 in normal play, even though the rules screen shows A$2,400 in every mode. You need Ante Bet for A$1,200. A$2,400 only comes with Super Spin, so that figure quietly assumes a special bet.
Q: Does a special bet improve the return? A: Short answer: no. All five certified figures are packed inside 0.08 of a percentage point, running from 96.44% to 96.52%. Look, punters are paying for frequency here or for the guaranteed wild, not a smaller cut.
Q: How many free spins does a round give? A: No fixed number. The wild crosses five reels, but any scatter on reel 5 kicks it straight back to the start. Once retriggers show up, there is no printed round length.
Q: Can free spins reach the 512× multiplier? A: Only if retriggers get involved. A clean five spin round can reach 32×, and that needs the wild to win on every one of those five spins. Really, the retriggers are what build the top end.
Q: Does the bonus buy cost more with Ante Bet on? A: No. With a special bet switched on, the buy panel states that ante and Super Spin are disabled during feature buys, and both prices hold at A$200.00 and A$1,200.00 on a A$2.00 base bet. The buy reads off the base bet.
Q: Is Wild Skullz a Day of the Dead pokie? A: Not a chance. The skulls are straight band merch on a lit concert stage, with a masked undead band playing behind them. Honestly, there is no folk art in the artwork at all.
Q: Which RTP build is a casino running? A: Three ship, at 96.44%, 95.52% and 94.46%. Rules page 5 of 8 shows the live figure beside all five mode RTPs, so checking it takes seconds. No casino list is published.
