The engineThe Smash: a random rearrange of 5, 8, 12 or all symbols on the 7×7 cluster grid, sorted by pay value with high pays sinking to the bottom. In Free Spins, every Smash followed by a win adds +1 to a multiplier that never resets.

The winning line

Cyclops Smash keeps its real top end inside Free Spins. Each Smash followed by a win permanently kicks the round multiplier up by +1. The organic trigger lands about 1 in 390 spins, while the 100× buy runs at 96.06% RTP, just above the base game. Honestly, buy the bonus, let that multiplier climb and pocket any round that clears 100×.

There are no wilds here. No Ante Bet either. Clusters of five or more do the paying, with tumbles feeding the next hit and the Smash doing the heavy lifting. When the board bricks, a random Smash can re-sort 5, 8, 12 or all symbols by pay value. Low pays float towards the top of each reel while the better stuff drops lower, right where another cluster can form. In the base game, it gives a dead board one more crack. During Free Spins, it feeds the multiplier.

Step 1 — Read the RTP build before the cyclops swings

Pragmatic sends this one out in three certified builds. They pay 96.05%, 95.05% or 94.06%. That means the casino keeps 3.95 to 5.94 cents from every dollar, depending on the version it licensed. Mind you, the marketing page will not tell you which one is running.

Action: Open the in-game rules from the reels before staking a cent, then page through to the RTP line on page 4 of 6. Check that first. After that, confirm the Bonus Buy button is sitting beside the reels.
Watch for: The rules text stating “The theoretical RTP of this game is 96.05%”. You also want the 100× buy button visible on the main screen.
Decision branches:
If the rules read 96.05% and the buy button is present → run the full plan.
If the rules read 95.05% or 94.06% → the operator is clipping up to an extra 2 cents per dollar. Find an AU-facing casino offering the full build before putting a A$500 session bankroll behind the plan below.
If there is no buy button → you are on a restricted config. The UK build hides it, so switch sites or accept the grind lane in Step 2 as your only way in.

Step 2 — Pick the lane: the 100× buy or the 1-in-390 grind

The organic trigger is skinny. You need 4 or more lava-rock Scatters, and they land at a 0.257% rate, which works out to roughly one bonus every 390 spins. Spinning your way there burns an expected 15.4 bets in house cut. The buy charges an expected 3.94 bets for the same entry, with the workings shown in the maths block. Straight up, the button is cheaper per bonus here. That is not common for a Pragmatic buy.

Action: Work out the price of both lanes at your chosen stake before spinning. At A$0.50, one buy costs A$50. Grinding to the average organic trigger turns over about A$195 across 390 spins.
Watch for: lava-rock Scatters. They survive tumbles and remain on the grid while winning symbols clear. Also check whether any deposit-bonus terms are active on the account.
Decision branches:
If the session stash covers 8 or more buys → use the buy lane, then size it properly in Step 3.
If it covers fewer than 5 buys → lower the stake until the numbers work. The other option is grinding at A$0.20, where 390 spins creates about A$78 in turnover.
If a deposit bonus is active → most AU-facing offshore casinos cap bonus-money bets at A$5 to A$10. Feature buys are usually banned under the same terms, and even the minimum A$20 buy smashes through the cap. Clear the wagering first or use clean funds.
If the series maths never fits the wallet → Candy Rush uses the same grid family. It sits at medium 3/5 volatility and bleeds more gently.

Step 3 — Size the stake off the series, not the single swing

One bought bonus tells you bugger all at 5/5 volatility. Really, choosing the stake means choosing how many attempts you can afford. The maths is stash ÷ (100 × stake) = swings booked.

Action: Set the stake before the first buy so the session stash can cover at least 8 to 10 attempts. Anything thinner is asking one rough patch to end the session.

StakeBuy costBuys on A$500Buys on A$1,000
A$0.20A$202550
A$0.50A$501020
A$1.00A$100510
A$2.00A$20025

Watch for: Keep the live buy count beside the number originally booked. Log every return in ×bet, not dollars, so the cut-off ladder stays fair.
Decision branches:
If the stash is A$500 → cap the stake at A$0.50. That books ten proper attempts.
If A$2 starts looking tempting on the same A$500 → look, that gives you a two-swing session on a 5/5 pokie. Two cold rounds and the whole series is cooked before the engine gets a fair chance to show itself.

Step 4 — Count the Smash-then-win bumps inside Free Spins

Landing four Scatters opens 10 spins. Five gives 12, six pays 14 and seven unlocks 16. The buy can roll any of them, including the full seven-Scatter start. Every Smash followed by a win adds +1 to the round multiplier. That number then boosts every later win and stays put until the feature ends. Retriggers tack on another 10 to 16 spins without resetting the multiplier. Pragmatic says special reels run during the feature but gives no useful detail. To be fair, the only round that matters is the one on your screen, not some forum yarn.

Action: Log every round in the notebook: entry scatters, retriggers, final multiplier, return in ×bet. There is nothing to press mid-feature; the job is reading rounds, and the log is what the ladder rules run on.
Watch for: the club swing or foot stomp (that’s the Smash), the multiplier counter ticking up only when a Smash produces a win, and fresh Scatters for the retrigger.
Decision branches:, If a round returns 100× or more → the buy is recouped with change (A$50 back plus the rest on a A$0.50 stake); apply the exit numbers in Step 5., If a retrigger lands with the multiplier at 5× or better → that’s the compounding shape behind the best tracked bonus of 6,568.6×; let it run and hold the exit rule for the end of the round., If the round closes under 100× → it counts against the ladder in the cut-off. No re-buy on tilt.

Step 5 — Bank at the numbers, not the feeling

The 10,000× cap here is literal. The moment a round’s total touches 10,000× the bet, the round ends instantly, the win is paid, and every remaining spin and feature is forfeited. Banking at the cap is not a decision the punter gets to make; the game makes it. Every other exit has to be held by hand.

Action: Write three numbers down before the first buy: 100× for recoup, 300× for the session bank, and the ladder stop from the cut-off. On a A$0.50 stake those are A$50 and A$150 rounds.
Watch for: a round total closing in on any of the three numbers, and the itch to re-price them mid-session. That itch is the tell.
Decision branches:, If any single round pays 300× or more (three buys’ worth) → end the session and start the withdrawal; KYC on a first AU-offshore cashout typically takes a day or two, so file it while the motser is still in the account., If the balance hits the ladder stop with no 100× round on the log → the session is over, whatever the last multiplier felt like.

The maths that funds the buy lane

At the 96.05% build the house keeps 3.95 cents per dollar of turnover. Estimated from the spec parameters, the base game carries roughly 71 of the 96.05 RTP points (close to three quarters of all return), leaving Free Spins around 24.6 points off the 1-in-389.69 trigger. The base is dribble, mostly clusters paying 0.2× to 0.75×. The bonus is the payload.

The entry comparison drives everything above. Grinding 390 spins to an average organic trigger gives up 390 × 0.0395 ≈ 15.4 bets of expected loss on the way in. The buy gives up 100 × (1, 0.9606) = 3.94 bets per bonus. Same destination, about a quarter of the toll, and the published 96.06% buy RTP already prices in the fact that bought entries can roll up to seven Scatters while organic triggers skew to four.

Reality check from the field: the tracked pool returned 95.45% over 14,200,899 rounds (tracked sample, 14.2M rounds), 0.6 points under certificate; pools mix demo and real play and run cool, so treat that as signal, not gospel. Base spikes are thin: a 10× win or better lands about 1 in 93.73 spins, 20× or better about 1 in 172.61. Best tracked base round: 1,112.9×. Best tracked bonus: 6,568.6×. The 10,000× cap never fell once in the whole pool, and the one published estimate puts it at 1 in 70,422,535 spins. Nobody sane plans around that; the plan is the multiplier lane, with Wild Beach Party the near-twin for anyone trading half the ceiling for a richer 96.53% base game.

What breaks it

  1. A two-swing series. Buying at A$2 on a A$500 stash books two attempts on a 5/5 pokie. A short series gives the Smash engine no sample at all: A$400 gone in two clicks with nothing learned.
  2. Grinding the base for the four-figure spike. The 1,112.9× base round on the tracker is real, and it is one round out of 14.2 million. At 1 in 172.61 for even a 20× hit, base-game chasing is a slow bleed dressed up as a hunt.
  3. Buying with a deposit bonus active. The A$5 to A$10 max-bet caps most AU-facing offshore casinos run on bonus money make even the A$20 minimum buy a terms breach, and a breach puts the whole balance at the operator’s mercy.
  4. Reading the 31% hit rate as safety. One win every 3.21 spins sounds friendly until the cluster pays land at 0.2× to 0.75× of stake. The frequent “wins” are the bleed. Punters who size up because the game hits often burn the series budget before the first buy.
  5. Chasing the cap. 10,000× ended zero rounds in 14.2 million tracked. Anyone playing for a ceiling number should be on Sugar Rush 1000 at 25,000× with multiplier spots; the edge case here is the never-reset multiplier, not the number on the splash screen.

The cut-off

Set these before the first spin and never renegotiate them mid-session.

Ladder stop: half the series budget gone without a single round returning 100× → stop buying. On the A$500 at A$0.50 setup that’s five buys (A$250) with nothing past recoup.
Grind stop: 500 spins with no Free Spins trigger and the stash down 40% → close the tab. That’s already 28% past the average 390-spin wait; the dry stretch has had its chance.
Round banked: any single round at 300× or better ends the session on the spot, balance withdrawn.
Cap event: automatic. At 10,000× the game banks for you, forfeits whatever spins and features remain, and closes the round. There is nothing to decide afterwards and nothing left to chase.

  • Well, there are extra steps between those listed tiers. Clusters of 6, 7 or 9 symbols pay amounts sitting between the shown values.
  • Only the biggest win from each winning combination gets paid. Separate clusters still count, with every one added to the total win.
  • The Scatter sticks through tumbles. Winning symbols clear, but the Scatter stays planted on the grid.

Game rules

Base game

Look, there are no paylines here. A win needs five or more matching symbols joined horizontally or vertically anywhere on the 7×7 grid. Once a win lands, cleared spots refill from above and the tumble can keep running.

  • A winning block needs at least 5 matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically. That is it.
  • After each win, the winning symbols vanish while the Scatter remains. Everything left drops down, then fresh symbols fill the empty spots from above.
  • Tumbles keep firing until the grid stops producing winning combinations. Honestly, once the wins dry up, the sequence is done.
  • All wins sit pending until the entire tumble sequence finishes. Only then does the game credit the lot.
  • To be fair, there is no hidden wild mechanic here. Wild symbols do not appear anywhere in the game.

Smash feature

When the grid runs out of wins after a spin or tumble, the cyclops can randomly belt the board and sort the symbols again. Think of it as the game hitting shuffle. It comes from nowhere, mind you, and there is no trigger a punter can chase.

  • Fires at random when a spin or tumble has no wins left.
  • The game randomly shifts 5, 8, 12 or ALL symbols into new spots.
  • Symbols shift up or down according to their pay value. Low pays get pushed to the top, while the highest sit at the bottom of each reel.
  • If the Smash creates a win, the tumbles keep rolling. Once they dry up, of course, another random Smash can hit.

Free Spins

Four or more lava rock Scatters start the bonus. The whole round hangs on one number: a win multiplier that rises whenever a Smash leads to a win, then stays put until the feature is done. Honestly, the organic trigger is a slog at roughly 1 in 390 spins.

  • Landing 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 Scatters pays 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 free spins.
  • Any Smash followed by a win adds ×1 to the win multiplier. From there, the new figure applies to every winning combination for the rest of the round.
  • The multiplier does not reset during the round. Simple as that.
  • Retrigger: land 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 Scatters during the feature and you get 10 / 12 / 14 / 16 extra spins.
  • Special reels kick in during the feature. Mind you, the producer keeps the actual setup under wraps.
  • The feature runs its course first. The full win is paid once it is done.

Bonus buy

Skipping the dry patch comes with a fixed price, of course. The buy plants the Scatters on the very next spin, with the amount landed setting the entry size.

  • Cost: 100× current stake. That buys an instant Free Spins entry.
  • The buy can drop 4 to 7 Scatters. That means an entry of 10 to 16 spins.
  • Bonus buy mode RTP sits at 96.06%. Honestly, that is only a whisker above the 96.05% base rate.
  • UKGC jurisdictions block it. It is still available through AU facing offshore casinos, though.

Max-win cap

The 10,000× ceiling is a dead stop, not some figure the game rounds around. Hit it during the bonus and, well, the round gets cut off on the spot.

  • Hard cap: 10,000× stake for the entire round.
  • Once a round reaches 10,000× bet, it ends immediately. The win gets paid, and frankly, anything still left in the feature is gone.
  • The cap chance is brutal, honestly: ~1 in 70,422,535 spins.

RTP versions

Pragmatic Play supplies this title in three certified RTP tiers. The operator chooses which version goes live, so, of course, the cut changes from casino to casino.

The bonus buy has its own certified rate of 96.06%, just above the default base figure. We could not verify each casino’s assigned tier on this pass. Check the rules page inside the game before putting a bankroll through it.

Volatility distribution

That 31% hit rate looks soft enough, mind you. The community sample covers 14.2 million rounds, and it tells a rougher story: stacks of sub 1× cluster wins slowly chewing the balance, with the odd feature spike doing the heavy lifting.

Roughly three quarters of the return is estimated to come through the regular tumble and Smash cycle. The Free Spins round owns the top end. To be fair, that estimate comes from the listed specs, while tracked pools combine demo sessions with real play, so use it as a signal rather than certified maths.

Pragmatic has pumped out a full family of 7×7 tumblers. Cyclops Smash, well, lands on the same beach as a near twin.

Demo notes

The free demo uses the UK jurisdiction setup. That means punters see a different build from the one generally found in a real money lobby aimed at Australia.

  • The bonus buy button is completely missing from the demo because the UK setup blocks feature buys. Offshore casinos aimed at Australian punters generally show it, though.
  • The demo takes AUD and displays wagers in A$, with A$100,000 loaded as demo credit. Look, we also saw no geographic block during an Australian session.
  • Organic Free Spins show up at roughly 1 in 390 spins in the demo as well. Honestly, proving the bonus rate without touching the buy button means settling in for a long session.

FAQ

Q: Does the bonus buy have better RTP than the base game?
A: Straight up, yes, but only by a whisker. The buy mode is certified at 96.06%, while the base sits at 96.05%. That is unusual for Pragmatic, where buys generally match the base rate or come in below it.

Q: What happens if a round hits the 10,000× cap?
A: The round stops dead and the win gets paid. Any features still waiting are wiped, including leftover spins. Mind you, nobody hit the cap across the tracked sample of 14.2M rounds.

Q: Are there wild symbols in Cyclops Smash?
A: No. You get seven pay symbols and the lava rock Scatter, full stop. The Smash resort handles the grunt work, while the Free Spins multiplier supplies the real punch.

Q: How often do the Free Spins trigger naturally?
A: Roughly 1 in 390 spins. That is one of the longer waits in Pragmatic’s cluster family, to be fair. The 100× buy cuts out the dry stretch and runs at effectively the same certified return.

Q: Which RTP version will my casino be running?
A: It comes down to the operator. The certified tiers are 96.05% and 95.05%, with 94.06% at the bottom. Look, check the rules page inside the game because no AU facing casino tier was verified this pass.
